Werewolves

Two separate but linked dreams in the same night:

One of my colleagues (non-existent) announced that he was a werewolf and that we should take action to make sure he didn’t bite us at the full moon.

Later Efua and I were hiding out in an office that looked a lot like David’s house except that the door to his study was the entrance to a stairwell. It was foggy outside and the fog appeared to be coming in. The fog also appeared to be dark blue with sparkly bits in it. We were hiding in the hall by the telephone table. This is the telephone that doesn’t work properly.

I appeared to be concerned that I was either a werewolf myself or about to be bitten by the werewolf colleague who was trying to get in.

Three odd dreams

1.      I was in a strange part of London with my Dad. We were lost, which was unusual because my Dad never got lost in London. We stopped somewhere to look at a map but the place we stopped was deserted and we couldn’t get our bearings. It felt like somewhere in London in the early morning twenty years ago.

2.      Same night. I going to fly to New York. I had all my luggage ready and I knew that I was going to fly later that day but had no idea when. As time went by I was growing more panicky as I checked each bit of paper I had to try to find the time of the flight. I could find all the paper for connecting flights and where I was staying but nothing to tell me what time I needed to get to the airport. I eventually found something that told me I needed to be there for 8pm. This also felt like it was “set” in the past – for one thing my parents were around and for another I wasn’t able to check the times of the flights on the Internet because it wasn’t available. It didn’t even occur to me that I could have looked on the Internet.

3.      Early morning – two nights later. I was sleeping in a strange house with my dad. I remembered that he was going to bring me a cup of tea before bedtime but hadn’t and when I looked around I found two cups in the kitchen and things laid out for making tea. I checked on my dad in his room and found he’d shrunk to the size of a baby and was sleeping in a cot. I let him sleep and had a look around the other rooms. I found one room near to mine that was a lot bigger and decorated like a deserted office. A window was open, causing some blinds to blow around and make a noise. This scared me until I realised what it was and then I closed the window. After that I looked around the room and thought about moving into it as it was so much larger.

Theft

I had a bad dream. Not a nightmare; I wasn't terrified but it wasn't pleasant.

I was in a supermarket, shopping with Heather from Eastenders and we were putting meat in a
shopping. When it came time for paying for all the meat I knew that we weren't able to pay. We
weren't shopping but shop-lifting.

Dream-me wasn't happy about this and Heather took charge, telling me that we had to do this or we wouldn't eat this month. She went to the tills (apparently she worked here normally), parked the trolly nearby and got her feet caught in one of the between-the-tills chains.

I walked towards the exit, not wanting to see what happened and as I got close to the door,
Heather and the trolly caught up with me.

In the car park we decided to go different ways to the car to avoid being caught but when we got
to the car, it wasn't there. Someone had stolen it and replaced it with a flattened car. It was so
flat it was more or less an outline of a car.

I knew it wasn't my car for all that it was in the place I'd left it and the alarm still reacted
when I pressed the button on the key. Poking around in the wreckage, I found my almost intact wallet. I remember thinking that it was nice of the robbers to leave my wallet behind.

Then I checked it and found my credit cards were missing. At that point Graham turned up and was very concerned. I sat down on the seat (even though the car was flat) and said that I felt awful.

My alarm woke me at that point.

Phil Mitchell

I dreamt I was having a fight with Phil Mitchell from EastEnders. Actually, what I was doing was trying to prevent him from hitting me by pinning him down against a bathroom door with one hand on each of his arms.

With a spare hand (where did that come from? who writes these things?) I grabbed a red biro and started to write "killer" on his forehead but ran out of room, which is amazing as he has plenty of forehead.

Ghost Watch (20/5)

In my dream, I was with a group of people on a course that was intended to help us look for ghosts. The course was held in an old house that was supposed to be haunted.

After a talk we were led into another room and told to wait. Very shortly there was a loud racket in the room above. It sounded like lots of people running about and heavy furniture being moved.

Although initially I thought it was just the staff in the centre, I soon realise that the noise is actually ghostly.

Then, in a mirror, I see the reflection of a fireman coming down the stairs with a hysterical woman. They make their way to the centre of the room and I see that the woman is my sister. There are no stairs behind me so this is not real. In the dream I know that my sister is unlikely to ever have been in this house and is currently at her home in Margate.

I wonder, in the dream, whether the fireman and my sister are ghosts from the future.

Two nights – four dreams (18/5 – 19/5)

#1 I was in a new flat and sharing it with Graham. I came home to find that he had started to decorate (normally very unlikely) with someone called Richard (in the dream he was Graham’s girlfriend’s brother). The decorating hadn’t got very far.

I was very angry that he’d started doing this and I shouted at Graham, telling him that it was my flat and I would decorate it if I wanted how I wanted.

An additional memory of this flat was that the passage to the bathroom was very narrow – almost too narrow to pass through.

#2 I was walking somewhere with Graham. He had gone on ahead as he normally does. I think we were walking away from Orpington towards Green Street Green. Some friends joined me.

Suddenly little black dots were falling out of the sky. In the dream I knew they were missiles and falling somewhere on the other side of Orpington. Even though we could hear loud but muffled bangs in the distance I don’t remember being that worried and nor none of my friends.

I called Graham to tell him I would have to go back home as my mother would be worried.

#3 Related to #2
I don’t know where I was but more things were falling out of the sky. This time I knew that the things contained creatures from Mars a la War of the Worlds. I don’t remember anything else about this dream.

#4 Toy shop
I was in a toyshop. I think I ran the shop or the main protagonist of the dream was the owner. There was some sort of alien in the shop that wanted something and was holding the customers prisoner while it was looking for it. While it was distracted I persuaded the customers to leave. Some of them needed quite a bit of persuading.

The alien became angry at one of the toys because it wasn’t what it was expecting.

River

In this dream, I was walking towards the Thames and it looked as if I were about to cross it at London Bridge. The sun had set but the sky was still light. I wanted to take pictures.

I saw that there was some waste ground leading down to the river bank off to the right so I left the road and walked down towards the river bank. The closer I got to the river, the more people I saw and the brighter it became.

It was as bright as daylight when I got to the river and it was a lovely place to be.

A course of dreams

Last week I was on a very intensive Microsoft course. See my main blog for details. However, among other things, the course or the accommodation seemed to trigger a series of odd dreams. I had three that I can still remember. The details are a little fuzzy as I'm writing this a few days afterwards.

1Loch Ness Monster
This was disturbing. The details are a little fuzzy but the dream started when I was in a toy shop with a colleague who was looking for a present for his new baby. Somehow then we were at Loch Ness looking for the monster. It turned up looking like the Creature from the Black Lagoon. You know, lots of teeth. It climbed out of Loch Ness and then started climbing up the bank towards us.
At that point I woke up, for real, and I had a period of night paralysis.
I know how that works, that the brain is temporarily cut off from the body during dream cycles but it was still not nice. I woke up and couldn't move and there was this weird metallic screaming in my left ear. It took me a little while to regain control of my body.
2Weird sex
This was also disturbing. This one started with me returning home to find my wife (???) in bed with another man. I think I started fighting with the man but ended up having sex with him myself. The details of this dream are the vaguest of the lot but there are images of us being watched by a gay colleague of mine and a recurrence of my eye's burst blood vessel problem.
3Holiday resort deep underground
 I liked this one.
I found myself looking for a lift that would take me to a holiday resort in a cave deep under ground. I tried several doors but I just missed them but got into one in the nick of time.
It went a long way down and fell so fast that we were in free-fall for most of the descent. When we arrived, the lift opened in a large brightly lit cave where there were huge natural constructions made out of light dust-like material. Possibly this was volcanic ash.
We were so far down that the gravity of the ground above our heads started to have an effect on us as well as the ground below so we were able to leap around like we were on the moon. I could jump very high against the columns of ash and run my hands through it.
Another colleague was there and we were like children in a sweet shop.
Later I went to another part of the complex where people were racing around in tubes very fast.
Finally, it turned out to be John Sessions's birthday party and I felt bad when I didn't have a present for him. All the presents had to be tied up with red ribbons. When we got back to the surface, it was actually David's party all along and I had to give him some rubbish present and promise to give him the red ribbon later.

It's odd but I only just realised that my colleagues featured in all of these dreams. I was on the course with three of my colleagues but none of them featured in any of these dreams.
